Sofia HVDC converter platform Transport Fatigue Analysis

Orca Offshore has done a spectral transport fatigue analysis for the SOFIA Offshore Wind field transformer platform. The Sofia HVDC platform consists of a 12,500 ton topside and a 5,000 ton jacket which has been fabricated by Sembcorp Marine Offshore Platforms Pte Ltd. Singapore.

The Sofia wind farm will be 195 km (121 mi) off the northeast coast of the UK, on the shallow area of the central North Sea known as Dogger Bank.

The scope of work for Orca included:

  • Specification and purchase of environmental data
  • Modelling of the vessel
  • Converting the jacket and topside SACS model to MOSES
  • Spectral structural fatigue analysis of the Jacket and topside

The spectral structural fatigue analysis has been performed with MOSES software.
