South Angsi Alpha – Marine Analysis

MarineMasters has commissioned Orca Offshore to perform all maritiem analysis for the decommissioning of the South Angsi Alpha (SAA) Platform. The 4,000 mt four-legged SAA platform, a Mobile Offshore Application Barge (MOAB), served as a full production facility. After production ceased, it was to be removed and partially reefed per Malaysian regulations – making it the largest platform ever decommissioned and repurposed in Malaysian waters.

The removal was done by lowering the topside using strand jacks on a cargo barge. The jacket and other parts have been removed using a small crane vessel.

The scope of work for Orca Offshore included;
  1. Modeling of the marine equipment.
  2. Design and analysis various mooring plans for the crane barge
  3. Perform Dynamic topside lowering and impact Analysis
  4. Determine allowable seastates based on operational limits of the operations
  5. General consultancy work
  6. Resolve comments Marine Warranty Surveyor

The various stages of the work done with each combination has been analyzed using MOSES from Bentley utilizing the Orca Offshore developed analysis procedures.
