Float-over Analysis

A full dynamic and static float-over analysis tool has been developed which will perform a fully customized float-over analysis including a code check. The tool will determine the first and second order dynamic response of the vessel using 3-D diffraction on a 3D representation of the vessel hull. The model includes the horizontal fenders, the leg mating, the deck mating units and all the mooring lines to accurately describe the complete float-over system. Hydrostatic clearance analysis and time domain dynamic analyses are performed on all critical steps during the operation, to determine the precise ballasting procedure and the determine the weather limitation of the system.

The output of the model is a ready for issue report describing the used input, the models used and the results and conclusions of the analysis. The model runs on the Online Marine Engineering server and uses the state of the art marine simulation software MOSES from Bentley.

  • Multibody analysis capability
  • 3D Hydrodynamic analysis of mooring spread 1st and 2nd order motions
  • Design seastate approach to determine design loads, or allowable seastate approach based on the provided design capacity to determine operational limits
  • Database of steel wire, chains and synthetic lines, LMU’s, DMU’s fenders.
  • Analyses methods: Static, frequency domain, time domain
  • Results presented as capacity rosettes as function of environmental heading
  • Compliant with API, DNV Posmoor, GL-Noble Denton, IMO guideline
  • Approved and used for various offshore projects
